Showers to some sunshine this weekend
Clouds and showers make for a poor start to the weekend, but we should salvage some sun by Sunday.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Drizzle and gray skies are the story for Saturday. Sunshine and drier weather return late in the weekend ahead of another chill for the middle of the next work week.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Scattered light rain showers will stick around through lunch time before becoming a bit more hit or miss through the afternoon. There may even be a peek or two of sunshine later in the day, as well. Highs will be slightly cooler than Friday, barely sneaking into the lower 60s.
We’ll continue to dry out overnight as lows settle into the mid 40s.
Sunday definitely looks like the nicer of the two days this weekend. There’s plenty of sunshine and only a slim shower chance. Highs will climb back into the mid 60s. Another brief chance at a shower moves through just before sunrise Monday.
The new work week starts off pretty quietly. Monday and Tuesday should be dry with generally light winds and cool mornings. Both days should hover on either side of 70 degrees.
Big changes swing in Tuesday night as a cold front ushers in a brief chance at showers and well below average temperatures. It may even be cold enough to support a few light snow showers at the highest elevations of the Smokies by Wednesday morning! The rest of the area will just see some cold rain showers and highs in the upper 50s. That’s about 10 to 15 degrees below the average high for this time of year.
The cold looks to be short-lived as we quickly return to the low to mid 60s and sunshine by Thursday. We’ll flirt with the 70s by the end of next week, but that could come with a few scattered showers.
