KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The East Tennessee Children’s Hospital announced the Fantasy of Trees will return in 2021.

The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 Fantasy of Trees event will take place in November with extended hours. This year, the event will be open to the public for six days instead of the usual five.

The number of people that attend each day will be limited due to COVID-19 precautions.

The annual event is the hospital’s largest fundraiser and attracts nearly 60,000 people during the week of Thanksgiving.

“Fantasy of Trees has become a family tradition for more than three decades and we are so happy to bring it back,” explained Carlton Long, V.P. for Institutional Advancement. “Our fundraising team is working on a detailed plan for putting additional safety protocols in place and adjusting hours, while still offering the magical holiday experience our community has come to expect from this event.”

According to the Children’s Hospital, event organizers are working on multiple options for easing crowd congestion. A cleaning committee will ensure all high-touch surfaces are continuously cleaned.

Fantasy of Trees raised more than $420,000 in 2019 and allowed the hospital to purchase life-saving medical equipment for patients. Learn more about Fantasy of Trees here.
