East Tenn. deputy arrested, charged with DUI

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested and booked into jail Thursday on several charges including driving under the influence.

According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, HCSO Deputy Nicholas Monroe was involved in a single vehicle crash on Interstate 75 near mile marker two Thursday. The five-year veteran was assigned to the Patrol Division was off-duty at the time of the crash.

Monroe was arrested by a Chattanooga Police Department officer and booked into the Hamilton County Jail on the following charges:

• Driving Under the Influence

• Implied Consent Law

• Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic

• Driver to Exercise Due Care

Monroe was placed on administrative leave with no pay, according to the post by the sheriff’s office.

This is an ongoing investigation.
