NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -The Tennessee Senate passed a bipartisan bill that would limit police officers from using chokeholds.

The bill passed Wednesday with unanimous support. The legislation aims to place more accountability on officers when it comes to using chokeholds.

According to the bill, chokeholds would be banned unless deadly force in authorized. The bill would also require de-escalation training, a ban on no-knock warrants.

If passed, law enforcement agencies would be required to develop policies on discharging firearms at or from a moving vehicle and also develop a reporting system.

The bill will go to the Criminal Justice Committee next week.
