KUB plans Kingston Pike closure

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Utilities Board announced that a section of the curbside, westbound lane of Kingston Pike will be closed Tuesday, May 4. The closure will effect Kingston Pike between Downtown West Boulevard and S. Gallaher View Road. KUB said the lane will be closed from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

One westbound lane, the center turn lane and both eastbound lanes will remain open, KUB said. Traffic control measures will be put into place to assist motorists navigate the construction, according to KUB.

KUB said it is closing the lane so work can be performed on the natural gas distribution system in that area. The work will not affect access to area businesses, KUB said.

Listed closures may extend beyond announced times depending on excavation and construction conditions, and follow-up advisories will be issued if needed, KUB said.

Commuters are advised to use caution in the area and expect delays.
