KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - In the same week he was drafted in the NFL, former Pittsburgh player Rashad Weaver was charged with simple assault. Weaver was taken in the 4th round by the Tennessee Titans who say they just learned of the charge Monday morning.
Police say on April 18th, Weaver punched a pregnant woman following an argument at the Foxtail bar in Pittsburgh. The woman told police she received treatment for a concussion.
Weaver was home in Florida this past weekend when his name was called by the Titans. He has a court date set for October 5th in Pittsburgh. The Titans released this statement on Monday afternoon:
“We were made aware of this news this morning. We obviously take this seriously and are in the process of gathering details and working with the league.”
