KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Coming off a series win over border rival Kentucky, there’s been a slight change in positioning for Tony Vitello’s Vols in the national polls. Tennessee falls one spot in the D1 Baseball Rankings from 4th to 5th:

The Volunteers, who are off to their best start in SEC play since 1995(15-6) with a 14-7 record, are up spot to #6 in the weekly Baseball America Poll:

After dropping the second game of the series when UK pitchers Sean Harney and Alex Degen quieted the Vols’ lineup, Tennessee bounced back in the finale Saturday with an 11-run outburst that featured a seven-run sixth inning. Pitcher Blade Tidwell was solid on the mound giving up just two runs, one earned, against the Wildcats. Now 34-11, thre Vols are down a spot in this week’s USA Today Coaches Poll to No.6:

The Vols are at Missouri this weekend. UT has won five straight SEC road series dating back to the end of 2019. Tennessee is tied atop the SEC with Vandy. Florida is a game back. After Mizzou, Tennessee closes out the season with series against top ranked Arkansas and South Carolina.
