Knoxville Goodwill celebrating 50 years

Donating and shopping at the thrift stores helps neighbors find jobs

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - This year marks 50 years for Goodwill Industries in Knoxville. The organization is celebrating Goodwill Week May 2-8, 2021.

The organization is known for its thrift stores but it also provides job training for those who have employment barriers or who have a hard time finding a job. When you donate or shop at Goodwill, you help them provide a variety of job training and career services.

In 2020, more than 18 million pounds of textiles were diverted from the landfill through donations to Goodwill Industries-Knoxville. 2,357 individuals were served through our programs, with 2,043 successful program closures. Additionally, $2,214,644.30 was paid to employees with disabilities or other barriers.
