Nashville officer hospitalized after responding to shooting report in South Nashville

Metro Nashville police say the call of a reported shooting at a residence Tuesday was a set up to get police to respond.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -A Metro Nashville Police officer is hospitalized after responding to a reported shooting at a South Nashville home Tuesday.

According to the Nashville Fire Department, crews were called to the 7200 block of Sugarloaf Drive for reports of a person inside the home with a gunshot wound. NFD says, crews received reports than an officer had been shot.

The Metro Nashville Police Department says, the officer identified as Brian Sherman is being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for gunshot wounds to his left arm.

MNPD says, officer Sherman was hit while answering a call of a woman shot and the call was a set up to get police to respond.
