PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Pigeon Forge Police announced an arrest after shots were fired in the parking lot of a Pilot during the Spring 2021 Rod Run weekend.

Chad Louis Smith, Jr., 22, of Knoxville, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and vandalism.

Pigeon Forge Police said he pulled a handgun and fired two shots into the air during a confrontation outside the Pilot on April 16.

Pigeon Forge Police Chief Richard Catlett told WVLT News it happened in the convenience store parking lot after the annual Spring Rod Run event.

According to investigators, Smith, Jr. and other bystanders then ran off.

After asking for help from the public, authorities said the police department received videos from the situation that helped provide an accurate description of the suspect.

Smith is being held in the Knox County Detention Center on an unrelated charge and will be transported to Sevier County to face charges there.
