Some sun today, ahead cool clouds and light showers
Chief Meteorologist Heather Haley says rainfall is light for most, but the impact to temperatures is felt by all this week.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - We have a small break in the clouds today and temperatures try to rebound, but scattered rain returns tonight and keeps the temperatures in the 60s for the rest of the week. We do have a better, more consistent warm-up starting this weekend.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your Tuesday is mostly cloudy to partly cloudy at times. The high today does make it back to the low 70s, so warmer than yesterday’s 60s but still about 5 degrees below average. There’s a light, cool breeze today.
This evening clouds increase, bringing isolated rain chances back to the area. Scattered, mostly light showers, move through tonight. Most collect zero to a tenth of an inch of rain. This lasts into the morning hours, with scattered showers the first few hours of the day, after a morning low of 46 degrees.
The leftover clouds and showers for Wednesday keeps us in the low 60s, yet again. We’ll stay mostly cloudy, and a spotty, light shower is possible through the afternoon hours. The wind makes it feel even colder, with a Northeasterly breeze 10 to 15 mph and gusts occasionally closer to 20 mph.
Thursday is partly cloudy and chilly in the low 40s to start, but some extra clouds and a few light showers are possible again in the afternoon to evening. The best chance for rain is for far NE TN, with a few showers in the Valley to Smokies as well. Thursday is still chilly, with a high around 66 degrees.
Clouds are in and out for Friday as well, with more sun early and some extra clouds in the afternoon. The high will be around 69 degrees.
This weekend is warming up! Saturday looks better, with a mostly sunny view and a high around 72 degrees. Spotty pop-ups are possible, especially in the higher elevations, on Sunday, but we’re warming back to the mid 70s.
Early next week cranks up to 80 on Monday, but then scattered storms move in on Tuesday.
