KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Police Department responded to a reported ‘active disturbance” Wednesday afternoon in the 2700 block of Jersey Avenue.

According to KPD, officers responded to a call of a man attempting to break into a woman’s home and then chasing her in his vehicle after she tried to escape him.

“The female victim called to report that a male she had recently met was at her residence and attempting to break into the residence. Prior to officer arrival, the victim exited the back of her residence and got into her vehicle to leave. The suspect then got into his vehicle and proceeded to aggressively chase the victim. The suspect allegedly struck the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle at one point and pointed a firearm at the victim and her vehicle,” the police report reads.

The suspect continued chasing the woman back to Sutherland Avenue, traveling eastbound towards Victory street where there were officers on the scene of another call, according to KPD.

“As the victim passed that location, KPD officers intercepted the suspect, who was still following the victim at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle and as the suspect continued, the suspect struck an SUV near the entrance to John Tarleton Park. Following that collision, the suspect exited his disabled vehicle and fled on foot,” the report reads.

The suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Jack Bolden of Knoxville, was apprehended in the 2900 block of Brock Street. He was taken into custody without further incident, according to KPD.

Officers searched the vehicle Bolden was driving to find a loaded handgun. Police also did a background check on the suspect, revealing he had a previous felony conviction.

Bolden was charged with aggravated assault, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, evading arrest and reckless endangerment.

The driver of the SUV that was struck by the suspect vehicle was not injured.
