Authorities identify suspect in stabbing at Knox Co. hotel

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Officials with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect involved in a stabbing incident at a hotel on Parkside Drive is in custody.

Authorities identified the suspect as Darrell A. Paul, 34. Paul was arrested Thursday afternoon.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched to the Days Inn around 9:30 a.m. for a reported stabbing.

When deputies arrived on the scene they located a man with a stab wound to the neck. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Officials said the victim’s condition is unknown at this time.

Paul fled the scene on foot following the incident, according to KCSO.

Tate’s School, the Christian Academy of Knoxville and Webb School of Knoxville were placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution while authorities conducted the search.

KCSO’s Aviation Unit assisted the Patrol & K-9 Units in the search for Paul.

Paul was transported to the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility. He is charged with attempted second-degree murder and is being held on a $25,000 appearance bond.
