KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A few spotty showers have fallen across the area, but most have remained dry. Spotty showers will remain possible through midweek.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Most of the area has been locked into the cloud cover this afternoon while a few spots up into southeast Kentucky and along the Cumberland Plateau have seen a few spotty showers. Even with the rain around and not much sun, highs managed to climb into the low to mid 70s.

As the evening rolls along, we’ll keep the clouds around, but spotty showers will begin to taper off. Look for temperatures to slide back through the 60s.

A blanket of clouds will remain overnight, but we should stay dry. Lows out the door Monday morning will start off in the mid 50s.

LOOKING AHEAD

Rain chances don’t look as great early next week, but popcorn showers will still be possible in the warmth of the day. Rain chances will run at about 20% each day, meaning it’s not a washout, but that a stray shower or storm could pop up at any time.

As high pressure moves in, temperatures will be flirting with 90 degrees by next weekend.

The climbing temperatures will be the bigger story after several days at or below average. We’ll hover around 80 degrees for the first half of the week before jumping into the mid and upper 80s leading up to the following weekend! Stay cool!
