KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The University of Tennessee ended its mask policy for those who are fully vaccinated, Chancellor Donde Plowman announced Monday.

The University also updated its social distancing policy for those who are fully vaccinated.

“Consistent with newly updated CDC guidance, fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks or social distance on campus, indoors or outdoors,” the announcement stated.

In accordance with CDC guidelines, the masking and social distancing policy will still apply to those who are not vaccinated, the Chancellor said.

“We have consistently followed guidance from health authorities, and I have been inspired by the way our campus has responded to support our students and one another,” Plowman said.
