KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -61 year old Libby Barker tested positive for COVID back in August of 2020. She spent ten months in the hospital, which included nine weeks on a ventilator.

During those ten months she wondered if she would ever come home again or survive her battle with COVID.

The hardest part for Libby was missing family moments like her grandson’s first season playing basketball, she said. While she staying in a nursing home for eight more months following her hospital stay, she was only able to connect with family over facetime or zoom every now and then.

On Tuesday afternoon, Libby had the day she had waited for for 10 months. The Tazewell native got to finally home and hug her family once again.

Brought to tears, siting on the couch, Libby says the moment was “a miracle” and she’s thankful to once again have the opportunity to see her family.
