Tennessee baseball and its fan base excited for the future
Vols in NCAA Super Regional for first time in 16 years
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - What’s not to be excited about. This time last season, well, there was no season. what a difference a year makes!
The Tennessee baseball team and the support it’s receiving from its fan base is on an incline we hav en’t seen since th Rod Delmonico years. The former and long time Tennessee coach told Brent Hubbs of our media partner Volquest.com, “You sort of reflect later on where you wished you would have taken a moment and looked around the stadium,” Delmonico admitted. “I hope Tony does that. I hope he embraces it in the super regional.”
Delmonico added, “I talk to Tony frequently. I’m very proud of what he has done. I’m happy, happy for him and I will say this it took another Italian to get it fixed.”
With two wins this weekend Tennessee will earn a trip back to Omaha, nebraska and the College World Seires for the first time since Coach Demonico’s team made the trip back in 2005.
The Vols won the SEC East for the first time since 1997 on their way to 20 SEC victories, the program’s most since 1995. This resilient group of players continues to feed off eachother and a fan base that’s endured difficult times over the years.
Thanks to a group of players who continue to believe in themselves and fans who have showed up both during and post pandemic crowds, Tennessee baseball appears to be set up for success, not just in this weekend’s NCAA Super Regional, but for many years to come.
