Abby Kousouris

Abby Kousouris is a reporter and Saturday morning anchor who joined the WVLT news team in 2020. She comes to WVLT from WMAZ in Macon, GA, where she worked for two years reporting on the city government.

While working Macon, she reported on violations brought against elected officials, covered officer shortages and their impact on the community, and featured light-hearted stories to highlight the good in the community. She was dubbed an honorary deputy by the Sheriff’s Department for helping the community.

She fell in love with reporting when she interned at a local station in high school. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, she fell in love with the south when she toured the University of Georgia campus. She graduated with a dual degree in Journalism and Political Science in 2017.

She is excited to be in Knoxville with her younger brother John, who is a sophomore at the University of Tennessee. Her parents are huge Vols fans as well. Fun fact, on her first Halloween, her parents dressed her up as a UT cheerleader.

Abby is looking forward to finding new places to hike, meeting new people, and football season.
