Jacob Durham is originally from Salisbury, North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he graduated in 2019 with a degree in Meteorology and a minor in mathematics. His first job came as the weekend Meteorologist in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he had the opportunity to cover numerous amounts of severe weather as well as one of the strongest hurricanes to hit the state. He loves to spend my time outdoors taking hikes, playing golf and doing some fishing. He's looking forward to exploring the mountains and learning of the diverse climates of Eastern Tennessee and Southeastern Kentucky.

Colder temperatures are making their way into the region over the next few days as highs stay well below average despite plenty of sunshine ahead. We’ll need to protect our plants and pets as temperatures drop below the freezing mark for several mornings before a subtle change arrives by late week.

Drier air is continuing to remain in place for for our Monday as winds are picking up, especially across our higher elevations. Please refrain from burning trash and leaves as we await for the arrival of much needed rainfall on Tuesday.

Drier weather has returned behind our cold front, which will allow temperatures to cool quickly overnight leaving us patchy frost by Sunday morning. Thankfully our next cold front isn’t far away as rain chances return to the forecast starting late Monday and into our Tuesday.

Temperatures are remaining cooler over the next few mornings as we finally drop to near average to start out the work week. Our afternoons will be slightly warmer as well as we head into the middle 60s, but the rain chances remain low as we continue to see our drought conditions.
