Sports Multimedia Journalist
Luke Slabaugh is an award-winning sports multimedia journalist at WVLT.
Luke joined WVLT's team for its dedication to covering the Vols and high school sports.
Luke grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and holds a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. While working for KOMU-TV, he helped break the story that the Mizzou football team would be joining in race-related protests on MU's campus. He also covered the team's coaching search in the fall of 2015. Luke won a Heart of America Award from the Kansas City Press Club for his feature report on a 91-year-old competitive diver.
Luke also worked at the Knoxville NBC affiliate for two years.
As a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, Luke tries to see them play every year. His greatest achievement in life is scoring a ticket to Game 7 of the 2016 World Series and watching the team break its 108-year championship drought against the Cleveland Indians.
Luke contributes to WNML's post game football scoreboard show on Friday nights, and has appeared on NBC Sports Radio.
When out of the newsroom, Luke enjoys traveling, rock n roll music, writing, and meeting new dogs on the street.
