Asian Culture Center of Tennessee holds Year of the Pig 5k, 1 mile walk

KNOXVILLE , Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Asian Culture Center of Tennessee held its Year of the Pig 5k and 1 Mile walk on Saturday morning.

The race was one of many events included in Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month. It had over 200 participants and was held at Tyson Park.

There were winners in categories including Top 3 Male Overall, Top 3 Female Overall, and Team Race. The proceeds for the race went towards the center's programming that "aims to promote diverse cultures and celebrate traditions and talents from the Asian continent."

The center also plans to have an Asian Festival scheduled for August 25, 2019 at World's Fair Park. This event will be open to the public and features educational activities including language teaching, performance art, and Asian cooking lessons.
