KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Students at Robertsville Middle School are part of a club that is making a difference worldwide.
"I really like helping people," said Aisha Patel, who is a Robertsville Middle School student in the Give Club. "It's nice to know when you are able to help someone and just make everyone happy by helping."
Aisha Patel is in the Give Club, which stands for Get Involved, Value Everyone. Member are using plastic bags to make blankets for people in Africa. They're also making dresses out of donated pillow cases.
"I learned how to use a sewing machine this year," said Patel.
The club started in the 2018 - 2019 school year. Principal Kirk Renegar said he's proud of the student leaders.
"It speaks to the character of the students, the leadership of the teachers and it's about serving leadership,' said Renegar. It's about going out and doing something for the community and on a worldwide scale."
Students have made about 9 blankets and 75 dresses that are ready to send to Africa.
"It's really fun doing all these different activities and you learn a lot," said Patel.
A teacher said one of her friends will take a mission trip and bring the gifts with her.
The club does more work during the school year. Students collect food donations for the community and take care of a garden.
