KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- There are lots of events happening around town this Memorial Day weekend. Here's what you need to know to plan your weekend.

Memorial Day Concert: Oak Ridge

This free concert will celebrate our area veterans and the men & women currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces with a program of patriotic music. All military branches will be recognized.

Fall Creek Falls Memorial Day Outing

Monday, May 27, will be our annual Section 3 Fall Creek Falls Memorial Day Outing. If your church is not doing a local Memorial Day activity, I encourage you to promote this in your church and attend if at all possible. It’s just a fun day of informal fellowship, recreation and relaxation. People usually start gathering around 9:30-10am.

A special and exciting feature this year will be multiple inflatables that are sure to be a great hit with the kids and make for a very exciting day for them. Special thanks to our Children’s Ministry director, Bro. Randy Pedigo, for securing these. Since some of the activities will involve water, it would be good to ask your parents to dress their children in darker clothes that will remain modest when wet. And of course there will be softball, so bring your softball equipment if you enjoy that. And feel free to bring any other outdoor games such as corn hole, horse shoes, volleyball, etc. Golf, paddle boats, etc are also available.

A few grills and tables are available, but you may want to bring your own, as well as lawn chairs, etc. We will take a break from our activities at 11am for a short time of worship and devotion. If you have questions, please let me know. Let’s have a fun day of fellowship together!
