Spend Library Week in Oak Ridge

Q1: JULIE, TELL US ABOUT THE EVENTS ON YOUR SCHEDULE FOR LIBRARY WEEK... YOU HAVE SOME OAK RIDGE AUTHORS COMING TO SPEAK AT THE LIBRARY, CORRECT?

A1: Yes and we're actually kicking things off a little early... Library Week starts April 7th, but we have local poet Lindsey Alexander scheduled to speak
tomorrow at 7pm at the library. Shirley Raines, who's here with me today, is scheduled to speak on April 11th at 2pm.

Q2: SHIRLEY, TELL US ABOUT YOUR BOOK AND WHAT YOU'LL BE TALKING ABOUT NEXT WEEK...

A2: Shirley discusses "An Uncommon Journey" and speaking event...

Q3: CAN YOU BOTH SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON WHY LIBRARIES ARE SO IMPORTANT TO OUR COMMUN ITIES?

A3: Julie discusses library programming serving variety of interests and age groups... Shirley shares personal experiences with libraries...

Q4: THE LIBRARY IS ALSO HOSTING A "DRESS UP LIKE YOUR FAVORITE BOOK CHARACTER" EVENT... TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT THAT...

A4: It's going on all day April 9th, so drop by anytime between 10am and 9pm, but Children's Room Storytime will be extra special that morning. So if you're looking for something fun to do with the kids, dress them up and come to the library. Storytime starts at 10:30. Participation prizes will also be handed out.

Q5: AND FOR ANYONE UNABLE TO ATTEND THESE EVENTS, JULIE, YOUR STAFF IS ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY ONLINE AS WELL… TELL US ABOUT THAT...

A5: Use the hashtag #MyLibraryMyStory on social media to share how libraries have impacted your life for the better and be sure to tag our page @OakRidgePubLib...
