$150K mural project approved for Market Square

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville City Council approved a project to commission a mural for Market Square that will cost up to $151,000.

It was approved in an 8-1 vote.

The art will be created by Carl Addison Kelm, who has also created public art pieces in Tokyo, New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Denver, Phoenix and a host of others.

The artwork will be featured on the eastern wall of the Market Square garage facing the alley Wall Avenue and Union Avenue.

No word on when the art is expected to be complete.
