KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) — McGhee Tyson Airport announced five new flights are coming to Knoxville.

Allegiant Air will offer nonstop flights to:
- Myrtle Beach
An announcement from the airport said the new flights will be available starting in May and June 2020.
"I love the fact that we're going to have more affordable flight options for Knoxville Tennessee," said Toby Miller, a Sevierville resident who flies often.
Allegiant says soon there will be five new direct flights from Knoxville's airport.
"This marks one of the largest single announcements we've had of air service in McGhee Tyson Airport's history," explained Caitlin Darras, a spokesperson for the airport, "Since May of 2016 we have seen month over month consecutive growth."
McGhee Tyson Airport now has more than 25 direct flights across the country.
"I love direct flights it's better than having to hop airports because this past Christmas I had issues with connecting flights and it gets just so stressful," said Gabby Mancini, a UT student traveling to Spain.
As for people traveling to East Tennessee it means more opportunities for tourists.
"It's a great place to visit. Dollywood is a sweet place. The mountains. It's just a peaceful place to be," said Terri Schumacher, a Knoxville resident.
People noticing tourists, and tourists noticing East Tennessee.
"We're definitely growing in this area. Blount County always been about the number 8 county of the 95 in tourism dollars, but we're quickly approaching number 7 which is the Bristol area," said Jeff Muir, a Blount Partnership spokesperson.
