Police: Tenn. teacher asked student for sex in classroom

GALLATIN, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A teacher at Gallatin High School has been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, WTVF reports.

An affidavit from Metro Nashville police claims that 35-year-old Douglas Richmond was arrested on Tuesday and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and solicitation of a minor.

According to WTVF, officials were called to the school when a juvenile told the assistant principal about an alleged relationship between a teen student and a teacher.

The teenage girl told police that she had been texting Richmond for four months and had sent and received numerous nude photographs, police said. Richmond allegedly told the teen not to tell anyone and asked her multiple times to have sex with him in his classroom closet.

Richmond asked her to download the KIK app to communicate, she told officials.

Officials are also accusing him of frequently asking for sexual videos and explicit photos. The victim had several messages on her cell phone discussing the sexual relationship and acknowledged that he could get serious "jail time."

During an interview, police say Richmond initially denied any relationship with the student, but eventually admitted to exchanging nude photos and "sexting."

WTVF reports he allegedly denied any physical relationship between the two; officials recovered nude photos from his KIK account.
