KPD: Woman charged in Vista Apt. shooting

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- FEBRUARY 12 UPDATE:

Two days after she was allegedly involved in a shooting and drug robbery, 20-year-old La-Drey Ya'Wonn Gross was arrested by Knoxville Police.

The Buick LaSabre Gross was riding in was stopped Sunday night, with a busted window, according to Knoxville P.D. That car was stolen and matched the description of the car involved with the Vista Apartment shooting two days before, on Friday, February 8th.

The report adds:
"At the conclusion of the interview, Gross was charged yesterday with Attempted Second Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, and Especially Aggravated Burglary. The investigation into the shooting revealed that Gross and two additional suspects entered the victim’s Vista apartment and demanded the victim’s drugs prior to shooting her.

In addition, Gross was charged with Theft of Property (Vehicle), Driving on a Revoked License, Driving While License Suspended, and Simple Possession. Gross is being held in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $140,000 bond.'

KPD are still hunting for two suspects, both males. One is a juvenile, the other an adult. KPD said it will release more information on these two men as their investigation unfolds.

Knox County Dispatch confirmed that officials were responding to reports of a shooting.

The call for a shooting came in at around 4:23 p.m. on Summitt Avenue at Vista Apartments. Knoxville police and fire responded.

According to KPD, a woman had been shot in the leg and was transported to UT Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury.

Police said the victim and suspect knew each other. More information become will be given as it becomes available.
