Mother identified after 'mystery child' left at California fire station

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. (WVLT) -- The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office in California identified a toddler who was dropped off at a fire station.

On July 2, the sheriff's office posted on its Facebook page that it was in contact with a woman who claimed to be the child's mother. Investigators said they were working to confirm the relationship.

The sheriff's office said on June 30, a citizen brought a small female child to a local fire station. Investigators said the citizen brought the child to the fire station after an unknown woman left the child with the citizen.
