ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WVLT/WTVF) -- Investigators said a baby was killed and five children were injured in an Antioch, Tennessee apartment fire on Monday morning, according to CBS Nashville affiliate WTVF.
According to WTVF, investigators were told the parents were at a nightclub when the fire broke out around 2 a.m. at the Hickory Lake Apartments in Antioch. Two people saw the fire and called 911 as a 6-year-old boy ran out, screaming that his siblings were inside.
WTVF reported that an eight-month-old baby, identified as Jream Jenkins, was killed. Her 23-month-old brother is in critical condition. Both lived at the apartment, WTVF said.
Six children under six-years-old were inside the apartment when the fire began. When firefighters arrived, they rescued one person from a third floor balcony. WTVF reported that the baby died at the scene, five children were rescued by firefighters. Four of them, WTVF reported, were visiting from Linden, Tennessee. The survivors were transported to the hospital.
A fire investigators said the fire began in a corner where a candle was burning, which is the same room where the baby was found, WTVF reported.
