According to AAA of Tennessee, motorists in the Volunteer State are getting a break at the gas pump.

Over the last 31 days, AAA said the price of a regular gallon of gas has dropped 19 cents, bringing the price in Knoxville to $2.44 per gallon, the lowest price in 2018 since April 12.

While that is good news for this year, AAA said that the average Tennessee motorist is still paying 16 cents more than the same time last year.

The price-dropping trend isn't isolated to Tennessee. In the past month, the price of a gallon of regular gas has dropped 20 cents nationally.

Leading to the decline in price is the price of crude oil per barrel. Prices dropped for what AAA Tennessee called the "record-setting 10th consecutive day." A price per barrel of $60.19 is the lowest since March.

for AAA Tennessee's prices in the Knoxville metro area and around the state.
