Alcoa electric crew set to assist with power restoration in aftermath of hurricane

ALCOA, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The City of Alcoa Electric Department is sending a crew to the Carolina coast.

A five man electric crew will travel with equipement will leave Sunday, September 23 to assist with restoration of power in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.

City officials said, however, that the crew will not leave until they have the opportunity to assess Florence's impact on the Alcoa electric system if the storm travels to East Tennessee as is currently projected.

The men will be taking a four-wheel drive pickup; one 55-ft, tandem bucket truck; and one digger derrick and expect to be assigned to a North or South Carolina area utility.
