Alcoa man arrested after drug raid

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) --- An Alcoa man was taken into custody following a drug raid at his home on Friday Morning.

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said a 45-year-old Anthony Earl Shannon was taken into custody following a search warrant executed by agents with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force at his residence on West Fulton street.

According to BCSO, Drug Task Force agents charged Shannon with five counts of delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance (heroin) in a drug free zone, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for resale (heroin) in a drug free zone, and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (200 mg morphine tablets) for resale in a drug free zone.

Agents seized 5.3 grams of heroin and 173 morphine tablets from Shannon's home.

Shannon is being held in the Blount County Correctional Facility on bonds totaling $175,000. He has a pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. February 13, 2019.
