A new study by
finds the average American spends almost $1500 a month on nonessential items. That totals up to some $18,000 a year.
The study finds most of us spend our "leisure" money the most on restaurant meals, drinks, take out delivery or eating out for lunch. Bottled water even makes the list, near the bottom, along with coffee, just above. Haircuts, pay TV, online shopping, and gym class memberships also are near the top of the list.
Are you surprised by this amount? And what are some of your "must-have" non-essential items you simply can't "live without"? Sound off in today's #YourVoice on WVLT's Facebook Page.
