KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A contestant on season two of American Idol scheduled a Knoxville performance at Honeybee Coffee, according to the coffee shop's Instagram account.

David Francisco was eliminated in the early rounds of the show during Hollywood week, but his story was a memorable one. The Tennessee native suffered a spinal cord injury after a car hit him while he was riding his bicycle in Nashville on April 27, 2016.

Honeybee Coffee said Francisco would perform in Knoxville on Saturday, April 27, 2019, to commemorate the three-year anniversary of that tragic accident which required months of therapy and rehabilitation.

In a post on Instagram, Honeybee Coffee said, "Knoxvillian David Francisco has traveled from his home in Los Angeles to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the day he survived a car crash while on his bicycle. To commemorate, he is stopping by our stores to thank his fans and play his newest single, LIONHEART."

The coffee shop posted that Francisco would be at the South Knoxville location from Noon to 1:00 p.m. and the West Knoxville location from 2:30 to 3:30 in the afternoon on Saturday, April 27.
