Anderson County shootout leads to deputy chase, crash

ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Officials with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to an incident involving a shootout on Saturday at 11:14 a.m.

According to ACSO, a black Honda was chasing a blue Kia on Edgemore Road traveling toward Clinton Highway.

The black Honda's driver reportedly fired shots toward the other vehicle involved in the chase.

The Honda turned south onto Clinton Highway and was pursued by deputies. The suspect attempted to turn right onto Lonesome Dove Road, however, he lost control and crashed, according to ACSO.

The driver exited the car and took off running into the nearby woods. Deputies said they followed the suspect and were able to talk him into surrendering. ACSO officials said the suspect was arrested.

Investigators said the two individuals involved in the incident were known to each other.

The incident began in the Karns community located in Knox County as part of a "domestic altercation," according to officials. The Knox County Sheriff's Office will take the lead in the investigation and officials said additional charges will be filed in Anderson County.

Officials said the names of the suspects are not being released at this time due to the pending investigation.
