Barnes: 'I would be shocked' if our players overlooked South Carolina

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- No. 1 Tennessee and No. 5 Kentucky are set to clash in a huge showdown this Saturday at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky.

But not so fast...

First, Tennessee is faced with a game against South Carolina; a team the Vols already beat in Columbia, S.C.

Tennessee beat the Gamecocks 92-70 two weeks ago, but it was closer than that.

It was a two-point game with 13 minutes left, before the Vols pulled ahead late.

There has already been plenty of media attention on Saturday's heavyweight matchup, but Barnes is not worried about his team overlooking South Carolina.

"I would be shocked because I think our guys have so much respect for South Carolina, and they understand where they are right now. They have a great respect for our league, and I thought we went out and competed hard against Florida. I expect them to understand that today's preparation is really important in getting ready for Wednesday's game."

Tennessee and South Carolina will tip-off at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville.
