(CNN) -- A recall for a popular blood pressure medication has been expanded.

Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has expanded its recall of losartan potassium and losartan potassium/hydrochlorothiazide tablets.

A potentially cancer causing impurity called N-methylnitrosobutyric acid has been detected in some of the medications.

CNN reported Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has not received reports of users getting sick, but the impurity level in the pills is higher than the FDA considers an acceptable daily intake level.

Doctors prescribe losartan for patients with high blood pressure and for Type 2 diabetics who have nephropathy.
