For the first time in over a week, Carlie Trent will be back at Hawkins Elementary School, where she feels most comfortable.

"My favorite subject is science," said Trent.

It's the same place police said her uncle, Gary Simpson, abducted her last Wednesday, forcing her to be away from loved ones, teachers and her best friend, Miley.

"She always plays with me," said Trent.

Trent and Miley are not only pals inside the classroom but playmates during recess, one of Trents favorite pastimes.

"We play on the seesaws and swings," said Trent.

Carlie was brought home Thursday after two men found her with her uncle in a remote area of Hawkins County.

Trent's father, James Trent, said he is grateful that Carlie wants to get back in school, just days after her kidnapping.

"That's great," said James. "That's the outcome I was hoping for," he added.

James said he just wants Carlie to be a normal kid again but will never forget how Carlie's uncle betrayed his trust.

"I'll just have to live with that," said James. "I'll just have to deal with it and just try to keep her happy, and if she's happy, then I'm happy," he continued.
