CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL)-- The Carter County Sheriff's Office confirmed a deputy was involved in a crash at the Stateline Drive-In Theatre in Elizabethton.

Officials with the Carter County Sheriff's Office said the deputy's vehicle appears to have crashed into the back of the movie screen at the drive-in, CBS affiliate WJHL reported.

Carter County Sheriff's Office officials said Elizabethton police were pursuing a vehicle on 19E and the deputy was in route to join the pursuit when vehicles in front of the deputy hit the brakes, causing the deputy to swerve.

When the deputy tried to get around the vehicles he reportedly lost control and swerved off the road, hitting the screen at the Stateline Drive-In.

Officials report the deputy is okay.

Other officers took the suspect involved in the pursuit into custody. His identity has not been released at this time.

WJHL spoke with the owner of the theater, Andy Wetzell, who said there was no damage to the front of the screen but there was structural damage underneath.
