Rural Metro: Meth "components" found at scene of fire

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Officials confirmed that crews were responding to reports of a fire on Friday morning in Knox County.

According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, emergency crews responded to a fire at 6107 Rutledge Pike.

Rural Metro reported that a trailer was involved in the fire. Upon arrival, investigators originally reported a meth lab at the scene.

However, upon further investigation, officials found that propane tanks were exposed at the scene. Firefighters battled the flames and initially thought that a meth lab was inside. Only some meth "components were present and they were not in any large quantities like we would see in a meth lab."

An elderly man had been occasionally staying inside of the camper, but he has not been there for several days, Rural Metro said.

No injuries were reported.
