One person is dead after a crash on I-81 in Greene County Saturday morning.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol officials, the crash happened near mile marker 23 on I-81 just after 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officials said two vehicles were involved in the crash.

So far THP is reporting that one of the contributing factors of the wreck was heavy traffic from an earlier tractor-trailer fire just a few exits away.

The tractor-trailer fire happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday and caused traffic to be backed up for hours.

We were told by THP the driver of the tractor-trailer, which was carrying boxes of clothing is okay.

THP officials said while traffic is moving again along I-81 near exit 23, they are still investigating the fatal wreck.
