KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - If you are still looking for some plans this Thursday for Valentine's Day, how about a four-legged date? Young Williams Animal Center is offering a "Doggie Date Trip" just in time for your special day.

It is part of their "Doggie Day Trip" program which is a great way to spend the day with an adoptable dog from the shelter.

"We have our 'Doggie Day Trip' program anyways, but we really wanted to tie it in with the holiday and the trends that are going on right now," Courtney Kliman with Young Williams Animal Center said. "A lot of people are meeting on social sights like Tinder and things like that, and things could get awkward, but if you have a dog in there, you have another companion with you, and you have someone to break up the tension, and so a dog is the perfect way to have a first date."

Folks over 18 can fill out an application on the Young Williams Animal Center website and get approval first before taking a shelter dog out for the day to any approved locations, including Market Square.

Young Williams provides leashes for your outings, and you must bring the dog back to the center by 5:00 p.m.

Kliman said this a great way to get the dogs out and about in a stress free environment, as well as getting them some exercise.

"People can take a dog out on Valentine's Day or this entire week as the ultimate date. We want to enrich their lives and make them less stressed and by taking them out on a 'Doggie Date Trip,' that's a perfect way to do that," Kliman said.
