PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Dolly Parton announced a new $2.5 million lighted holiday parade for Dollywood opening this Christmas season.
The new parade, The Parade of Many Colors, complements the award winning festival for the park and Dolly says celebrates fun, faith, family and harmony of the holidays.
"We're adding some new things to our award winning Christmas event. This year we're going to have a special thing, kind of because of our Coat of Many Colors, we're adding a parade and it's called the Parade of Many Colors," said Parton. "The parade specifically is not about my life and the stuff that's in the movie, but it has all the colors and all the feelings in my songs and in the coat."
Parton is in the park to filim for her new movie this Christmas, Christmas of Many Colors.
She plans to return to Pigeon Forge in November for a sold out concert at the LeConte Center to benefit the Imagination Library. The concert is part of her U.S. & Canada tour called Pure and Simple, which features songs from her new best-selling album.
"We're pretty much number one across the board, Lord it's been about 25 years since I had a number one album. So I've been out pushing it as you can see. But I'm really excited to be at it after all these years and thankful I still have fans," she said.
The Parade of Many Colors is part of the $300 million investment announced by Parton in 2013 for the Smoky Mountain Theme Park.
