LOS ANGELES, Ca - (WVLT) Dolly Parton took the Grammy stage Sunday night for the first time in 18 years. She performed a medley of hits alongside Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, and Little Big Town.
The star studded ensemble paid tribute to the Queen of Country Music who was honored as the MusiCares "Person of the Year" on Friday night.
During the MusiCares ceremony, a star filled line up from artists like Garth Brooks, Miley Cyrus, and Pink performed some of Dolly's classic hits. Parton said she is honored that her peers would celebrate her in such a way.
"I truly am honored to be the MusiCares person of the year and the first country artist to be honored," said Parton. "When I started it (Imagination LIbrary), I thought it was just going to be in our home county, maybe a couple of counties over. But it turned out that we took it all over Tennessee and it went on into Canada."
MusiCares also uses the event as a fundraiser. They support artists with addictions other needs. A vacation to Pigeon Forge called "The Dolly Package" generated more than $180,000 during silent auction and a guitar signed by Dolly went for more than $30,000.
"It's an honor, the first thing she did when she walked in was say thank you. All you do is say are you kidding me?" said Garth Brooks.
"We're saying thank you, that's why we're hear tonight. To say thank you for the music, thank you for the inspiration," said Trisha Yearwood.
