PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Ever wondered how Dollywood operates? How about a few insider tips to make your family’s day at the park better? Now you can share those experiences through what's called Dollywood Insiders, and the park is looking for some.
Kelly Harb spent Friday finding out more about The Dollywood Bakery and what goes into creating their world famous 25-pound apple pie.
She's been coming to the park for 30 years.
"So I thought I knew a lot about Dollywood," said Harb.
Over the past year she has learned a lot more. She's a Dollywood insider and gets to spend one-on-one time with employees. The Insiders then turn their experiences into blogs featured on the park's website.
"Just the passion employees have for working here, just the integrity of the company, it's so family oriented, it's just been fun, it's been a blast," said Harb.
Many of her blog posts come from her ideas, topics she wants to know more about. A thrill for her was when she got to ask Dolly Parton questions during a recent media event.
"Everybody loves Dolly, and she's so warm and so easy I really thought before, but you get up there and she's just smiling and so that was a thrill," she said.
Dollywood is looking for 15 people just like Kelly to write and share experiences to help the modern day traveler.
"I'm looking for grandparents like Kelly, I'm looking for young parents, I'm looking for people who don't have children. I'm looking for anyone who loves this park, love coming here and can talk about it with other people," said Amber Davis, organizer of the Dollywood Insiders program.
One of Kelly's favorite experiences was in the Costume Shop. She wanted to know more about how they create the designs and became even more interested when she found out a staff of six creates costumes for 3,800 employees.
"They really think through the little details, the hats, the suspenders, that was one of my most fun things to do. This little department does all that," Kelly said.
Dollywood is looking for those applications to be in by July 22.
