According to a GoFundMe page, a 7-year-old girl from Maryville is seeking extensive treatment after being viciously attacked by a neighbor's pitbull on March 17.

The page says that Sydney Bailey sustained significant bites to both of her legs, left arm, back, and buttocks. She received emergency surgery and 106 external stitches, but ended up back in the hospital after complications and contracting the H1N1 flu virus.

The GoFundMe page expresses that donations are needed to pay for psychiatric therapy, physical therapy, home health for her walker and wheelchair, all her wound care products, and a rental car so her father could drive from the military base in South Carolina to their home in Tennessee.

Blount County Animal Control took the dog, euthanized it, and tested the pitbull for rabies. The test came back negative, according to the Blount County Sheriff's Office.

The dog owner did not want to comment on what happened but does pray that Bailey makes a full recovery.

Bailey said she had been around the dog before. She did not know why this time was different.
