East Tenn. couple charged after officers find them living in 'filthy van' with infant, 3 cats
Police in Johnson City say two people are facing charges after they were discovered living in a "filthy van" with an infant and three cats.
CBS affiliate WJHL reports that officers found 42-year-old Melissa Hicks, 44-year-old Martin Tilley, an eight-month-old baby and three cats living in a van in a parking lot at 100 N. Roan Street.
According to the police, the van was filled with trash, rotten food and animal waste. The child was taken to the emergency room for animal scratches and a rash covering the child's body and is in custody of the state.
