Elderly North Carolina woman faces child sex charges, crime against nature

RAEFORD, N.C. (WVLT) -- A 72-year-old North Carolina woman is facing charges related to child sex crimes, police say.

Caroline McGee Pitts, is charged with one count of statutory rape of a child by an adult, one count of statutory sexual offense by an adult, one count of indecent liberties with a child, one count of crime against nature and one count of felony child abuse-sexual act, CBS affiliate WFMY reported.

Police said the crimes occurred between April and August and took place in Pitts' home in Raeford, as well as in Fayetteville.

According to WFMY, the victim is a 13-year-old child.

Pitts was arrested on Dec. 23 and, as of Thursday, was being held on a $500,000 secured bond.
