Police in Williamsburg, Kentucky say an escaped inmate was arrested in Knoxville.

Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at a Pilot at 5216 North Middlebrook Pike shortly after midnight Tuesday.

KPD said the suspect, Emily Baldwin, told officers she was left by a prisoner transport van near the Kentucky state line and hitchhiked to Knoxville. Authorities said a records check showed Baldwin was a fugitive from justice out of Whitley County, Kentucky and had two outstanding warrants; one from Kentucky and one from Missouri.

Both warrants involve drug offenses.

Police say on Monday, she was being transferred from Georgia to Missouri. She was last seen at the I-75 visitor's center just North of Jellico.

Just after midnight, the Williamsburg Police Department announced she was arrested by Knoxville Police.

This is a developing story.
